Surge Domine: The Holy Face Chaplet Prayer
Surge, Domine, et dissipentur inimici tui et fugiant qui oderunt te a facie tua.
Arise, O Lord, and let Thine enemies be scattered, and let them that hate Thee flee from before Thy face.

Debut
Under the direction of Kimberly Walters, a schola of eight women from my parish choir sang this piece for the first time during the 1st Sunday Holy Face devotions for February 2023, and I recorded it from the pews on my phone. That Sunday also marked the start of the mission on the Holy Face preached by Fr. Carney at the parish.
With permission, the recording is posted here below. There is a bit of noise from it being recorded live, but the ladies did such a great job with it. The repetition of the piece was even more confident than the first pass.

Dear Fr Carney, The music composed by the women in your Parish is very beautiful. It seems to come from another place. I think the Angels had something to do with it! Thanks Be to God.
May the Lord keep you and the sacred work you do, both protected and fruitful for the glory of God and the salvation of souls. I am from England and maybe one day the Lord will forgive us our sins and restore us to the One True Faith through many priests like yourself. God bless us all
Hi Sheila. I’m not actually Fr. Carney … or a priest at all for that matter. But thank you for your very kind feedback on my composition! God bless!
