This is a post containing information that was originally in our about page. It didn’t really belong there, so we have made it its own post. This is from late 2013.
Many Americans are preparing for the end of the world as we know it (TEOTWAWKI). We wonder if that event hasn’t already happened, only it wasn’t quite as sudden as most people expected. In our America, the plain language of the Bill of Rights is egregiously violated by people sworn to uphold our Constitution. Here are a few examples:
A Few Bill of Rights VIOLATIONS
- 1st Amendment – Religious Freedom: The travesty known as ObamaCare (it’s not a tax; it is a tax; it’s not a tax) forces individuals to buy insurance products that pay for mortal sins. There are a plethora of other issues with this law, but this is by far the most outrageous.
- 1st Amendment – Freedom of Speech: So-called “anti-descrimination” laws in many cities attempt to force people to cooperate in San Francisco style “marriages” by making it illegal to deny normal business services. What ever happened to “We reserve the right to deny service to anyone for any reason”?
- 1st Amendment – Freedom of Speech: The IRS (who can work for that agency in good conscience?) decided to go after citizen organizations that hold opinions contrary to the ruling regime, organizations that believe in lower taxation, less regulation, and a return to Constitutional principles.
- 1st Amendment – Freedom of Assembly: Remember when the government “shut down” but everybody got paid anyway? Despite the fact that in every government shutdown prior, national monuments remained open, the Obama administration decided to stick it to the American people and deny them the right to visit national parks and monuments. This was supposed to “save money”. In point of fact, it cost more money to barricade the monuments than to leave them open. Whose parks and monuments are these, anyway? They belong to the American people, not the federal government. American citizens being denied access to or being ticketed for “illegally” entering these public grounds is a gross violation of the right to assemble peaceably. Obama park rangers, you have completely lost any semblance of respectability.
- 2nd Amendment – Right to Bear Arms: Some states are better than others, but consider the following: the framers recognized they could not overthrow the tyrannical British government without having a citizen militia with weapons capabilities similar to the British soldiers. They wrote the 2nd Amendment to ensure the citizens have the same recourse if the American government became tyrannical, not just to ensure the citizens could defend themselves from domestic attackers. The disparity between the weapons the government has and the weapons the government allows its citizens to possess could not be wider. Even still, there are those in Washington who seek to limit our rights further.
- 4th Amendment – Protection against Unreasonable Searches and Seizures: In the name of fighting “terrorism”, we now have an agency known as the TSA that thinks is has the responsibility to assault citizens sexually while looking for fingernail clippers before allowing said citizens on an airplane. Not only is this a gross violation of the 4th amendment, it denies citizens of our own country that which the Secretary of State requests of foreign governments in the U.S. passport:The Secretary of State of the United States of America hereby requests all whom it may concern to permit the citizen/national of the United States named herein to pass without delay or hindrance and in the case of need to give all lawful aid and protection.
- 4th Amendment – Protection against Unreasonable Searches and Seizures: Now we turn to the illegal, mass surveillance on American citizens by the NSA. Need we say more?
These are just a few. For a longer list see here. That was depressing.
But we are not called to be depressed. We are called to be faithful to our vocations and stay the course within the Church, which has far outlived the petty, despotic governments that have, through the course of centuries, come and gone along with their empty promises of godless utopia. We are still called to live a Catholic life, not in fear and anxiety, but in hope for that victory which has already been won by Jesus Christ.
